Call for Submissions

The Call for Submissions opens on December 12th, 2016.

Take part in our Call for Submissions! To submit your session idea, please register on our website and submit a new session form for each idea. A detailed description can be found below.
The more concise the information you submit, the easier for us to rate your session.

There are 20 and 40 minute slots. You can let us know your preference in your proposal.

Yes of course. However, we do not accept product presentations or company marketing presentations. If your company is interested in a collaboration or sponsoring with Berlin Buzzwords, please contact us.
 

As a speaker you will get free accomodation during the conference for two nights (June 11th-13th) at XXX Hotel Berlin.

Being a community event, we cannot pay our speakers, alas. However, we cover your accomodation expenses.
 

You can resell your ticket and there are usually plenty of thankful takers to be found. You can also carry out a cancellation (But: the cancellation fees have to be paid by the attendees themselves).
 

Your talk needs to be final and complete on the day your are holding it. You do not need to send the final version We do not need your finished but your short session description will be published online. In order to get readers interested in your session and make them come and see you talk, hold the description short (limited to 2,000 characters) but pack the most important points/ questions into it. 

We will let you know at the beginning of March.
 

The Call for Submissions ends on February 14, 2017. Abstracts submitted after this date or which reach us through other channels cannot be accepted.
 

Selection criteria include: the quality and completeness of your abstract and how well it fits in to the program. Talks and workshops should concentrate on the implementation of systems, technical topics, real world applications and case studies. You can find more hints and information here.
 

We need information concerning your session idea including the topic, a brief description of the content, format (long or short talk), experience level, as well as some information about yourself.
 

1. Go to the registration page. (If you have already participated at a previous Berlin Buzzwords, you only need to update your profile. For this you need to log on the landing page with your username and password. If you have forgotten your username or password, you can reset it. On the main page you see the note “Berlin Buzzwords 2017: subscribe to event”, click on it and you will be asked "Are you sure you want to join the group Berlin Buzzwords 2017?". Click “Join”. You will return to the main page, click now on "Dashboard" and go to "Add Session" in order to submit your new abstract.)

2. You can already start to fill out your speaker profile. Please note that your speaker profile must be fully completed until February 14th, 2017 for your session to be accepted.

3. Choose your username. You need the username for your Log In.

4. Enter a valid e-mail address.

5. After completing registration you will be forwarded to the home page again and receive an activation link via your submitted e-mail address. Please note that this might take up to 15 minutes depending on your e-mail provider and please also check your spam folder. Click the link and set a password.

6. In the menu you will find:

  • User Dashboard: Here you find your profile information. Click edit and find your user account were you can change your e-mail address and password as well as your "Speaker profile" where you can edit and complete your speaker profile.
  • If you go to "Events > Dashboard" you can create a session proposal with > "Add Content" and simply fill out all fields related to your session proposal.

7. Go back to the User Dashboard by clicking “My account” and find your submitted proposal and may edit it as necessary under “My content”

8. Feel free to save and continue at a later date – but remember: your session needs to be completely filled out by February 14th, 2017

9. Add speakers to your sessions. If you are planning several speakers into your session, all of them need to register and create a profile. Once you know their username, go to “My content” open the session, click “Edit” and add the usernames to the "Speaker(s)" field in the form.

10. Your session is completed and submitted on time! Or go back to Step 7 and submit more session proposals.

No, you only need to update your account. Find the Log In Section in the right column of the landing page. Log in with your username and password. If you have forgotten your username or password, you can reset it.

On the main page you see the note “Berlin Buzzwords 2017: subscribe to event”, click on it and you will be asked "Are you sure you want to join the group Berlin Buzzwords 2017?". Click “Join”. You will return to the main page, click now on "Dashboard" and go to "Add Session" in order to submit your new abstract.

As long as you can access your session from the dashboard, it is saved and submitted correctly. You don't need to do anything else. Your session will be published once we accepted it for the conference programme. But no worries, we'll inform you via email before we'll publish it.

It is possible to change the session at any time. But if you change it after the "Call for Submissions"- deadline on February 14, 2017, please notify us and we will get back to you.

Pupils, students, people on social welfare, retirees and people with disabilities are eligible for these tickets. Please note that you have to present corresponding documentation of eligibility on location (student ID or other form of documentation that is valid in June 2016). 

 

Yes, if your student ID is still valid or has just expired. For example, a student ID from winter semester 2016/17 will be accepted at registration, but one from summer 2016 or earlier will be rejected. 

 

There are usually more submissions than slots available so based on the program committee's ratings, we always have to reject some sessions. If your submission won't be accepted, we will grant you a 20% discount code for your ticket.

The discount is valid for groups of 5 and more attendees.

 

All tickets are valid for the full three days and include free WiFi, food, snacks and drinks throughout the two conference days on Monday and Tuesday. You can also join the barcamp on Sunday and meetups & hackathons taking place all over Berlin hosted by Berlin Buzzwords and local companies. 

 

If you want to change the name of the ticket owner and make sure he or she gets a printed name badge with their own name, please send an email to event@newthinking.de. It must include the ticket number and the name and email address of the new owner.

Changing ticket owner names is only possible until May 27, 2017. Afterwards, we won’t be able to change the original name on the ticket. However, you can still sell or give your ticket to someone else. Please also note that it is up to you and the new recipient to work out your own payment method.
A ticket is only valid for one person and cannot be shared. You'll get a wristband in exchange of your ticket which you need to keep on your wrist for the entire duration of the event.

No, you can download your ticket as a .pdf at the end of the check out process. You also receive a confirmation email with the ticket attached to it. Please print it our or save on your mobile phone to present at the registration desk.
