Berlin Buzzwords 2017 is now over, and it was great! We have seen over 60 talks, welcomed more than 50 international speakers, had inspiring discusisons, met old friends and made new ones, gained valuable insights and enjoyed a great conference with amazing coffee!
We're happy to announce that in 2018 together with Isabel Drost-Fromm and Stefan Rudnitzki we'll be organizing a conference about governance, collaboration and community within the open source space.
There have been a few changes in the conference program, and we would like to provide a quick overview to make it clear.
Modern businesses have data at their core, and this data is changing continuously. How can we harness this torrent of information in real-time? The answer is stream processing, and the technology that has since become the core platform for streaming data is Apache Kafka.
It is often said that the world is not changing, but this is not true when it comes to data. The fact is, it has already changed. From the ‘Big Four’ accounting firms to the biggest enterprises in the world, all have massive ‘data labs’ or data analytics expertise.
Knowing your users’ preferences and behavior could help in optimizing the user’s E-journey by improving search relevancy and presenting relevant products. One way to leverage those preferences is to calculate a passive user profile based on the user’s interactions such as ad views and searches.

Join the Berlin Buzzwords team and become a volunteer to make our Big Data Open Source conference a huge success. Volunteering is a great way to be a vital part of the conference and barcamp. You will get the opportunity to network while getting a behind-the-scenes look. And the best is: You get a full conference ticket for free!
About 20 volunteers will be responsible for various conference duties such as accreditation and stage management. You will help to create a memorable Buzzwords atmosphere for more than 600 attendees, speakers and fellow volunteers.
